Good News Stories….Leland Browder
Occasionally, I get “good news” stories from folks using the Harp Wah. They’re not Pro players, just regular people, and through playing harp, are doing some really cool things in their lives. What a treat to hear their stories….
Leland Browder is a 78 year old harmonica player who only picked up the instrument in his late fifties. Leland has been called upon to make many short-term foreign Christian missions, and has told me that the harmonica has been a wonderful companion for him on his travels. “It’s easy to transport and the people love it!”
To date, Leland has been on 68 missions abroad, spanning 24 countries. Now, on each trip, Leland tells me that besides his harmonicas, his new Harp Wah is a new travel partner with him and his harps!
Here’s a Bit of Leland Browder’s Story:
I started doing short-term missions. Went to Honduras for 5 years straight with a medical and dental team, then, the Lord branched me out to other places. Some I have been to many times and some only once. I would always take my harp and would play some each time – maybe in a church service, maybe in a home, in a prison, orphanage, outside in villages, etc. I have played in Red Square in Russia, and China’s Tiananmen Square, always with a small crowd gathered around during these on the spot, unplanned occasions.
Of course when you return to an area where you’ve been the people know what you do, and they always want some more harmonica! Actually, I’ve had some people to tell me I need to write a book. I am looking at 7 new mission invitations right now. Some places I have been to and some new places! It really seems like a dream! I will continue to go as long as I’m able, or if the Lord shuts it down!
“It’s great to have some ‘good’ minds around to create such a wonderful tool for the harp. Every harp player needs one of these! You really hit on a good thing here Roly.”
